The fast-growing community of Wilsonville makes up part of the Portland metropolitan region. Most of Wilsonville sits in Clackamas County, although the northernmost part of the city is in Washington County. The city consists of two planned communities — Charbonneau south of the river and Villebois to the west.
 
Originally founded as Boones Landing, the town became Wilsonville in 1880. With a population of approximately 1,000, Wilsonville earned its incorporation as a city in 1969. Today, about 24,000 people call Wilsonville home. Families and young professionals make up the most significant part of the population.
 
Though the community enjoys a rather suburban and quiet vibe, its proximity to Portland means that public transportation (via Portland-based TriMet) quickly takes residents of Wilsonville to Downtown Portland for work or play.
